Noolaham Foundation, the pioneer organization which was established to protect, safeguard, and classify the Tamil traditional has successfully commemorated its 8th anniversary of its formation with a research conference on Tamil Documentation. The theme of the conference was ‘Documentation and Safe Maintenance of Tamil Scripts and Literary Works in Sri Lanka Tamil Environment’ and was grandly conducted on the 27th and 28th of April 2013. It marks a significant step in the history of documentation especially in Tamil language in Sri Lanka. The whole-hearted and strenuous efforts for the past nine years were to be seen in each and every step of the entire programme.

There were a host of eminent scholars from various fields, highly knowledgeable specialists, Social enthusiasts; journalists from local and foreign media were present at this conference. In addition, there were numerous research papers were submitted and out of them the most excellent 50 such papers were selected and 43 of them were read at the conference.

The event contained eight segments ,such as Technical usage in documentation , History, Archeological documents and Traditional records , Ethnography, Art, Sociological documentation , Tamil Language and literary records, Manuscript catalogues and library science and cultural values. Professor V.Maheswaran, Professor S.Pathmanathan, Professor S.Mounaguru, Professor Saba Jayarasa, Professor S.Yogarasa, Professor S.Thillainathan and Dr.Miss.Thiruchandran were as Chairman of the each Segment.

It was widely considered as a successful fusion between the younger generation, not so older generation and the older generation of Tamil educationalists and enthusiasts. The discussions were of a very high quality and made the audience glued to their seats. The conference allowed opportunities for interaction of several fresh writers along with seasoned campaigners. The entire programme was meticulously organized by the younger generation and achieved full of praise by the experienced participants. The commitment showed by the volunteers was unbelievable and beyond words. The participants were treated with a traditional Tamil lunch which took everybody to their maximum pleasure and showed to the world the culture of Tamil hospitality.
