First training event of “Improvement of e-Learning Facilities and Soft Skill to Children” Project

29.07.2014, Hind Board Children Home (HBCH), Kalasalai Road, Thirunelveli, Jaffna

First soft-skill development training and facilitation event was taken place at the Hind Board Children Home (HBCH), Kalasalai Road, Thirunelveli on 29th of July 2014 at from 09.30 am to 12.30 pm. On behalf of Noolaham Foundation, Mr. Sanjayan Selvamanickam (chapter head, Noolaham Foundation, Norway), Mr. Shanmugapriyan Shanmugam (Chief Program Executive, Noolaham Foundation), Mr. Gowthaman Kunchithapatham (District Coordinator, Volunteer), Noolaham Foundation staff and volunteers, and Mr. Somasuntharam Pathmanathan (President, HBCH), Mr. Thiruselvam Selvamanoharan (Assistant Secretary, HBCH) were actively participated in the event. Forty six number of Hindu Board Home student beneficiaries also were participated in this event. As a resource person Mr. A. Antony (Economic Development Officer, Divisional Secretariat, Tellippalai) was heavily facilitated this event.

A brief welcoming note provided by Mr. Noel Rukshan Premakumar (Project Assistant, Noolaham Foundation) at this event. Mr. Somasuntharam Pathmanathan, in his welcoming address, thanked Noolaham Foundation, donors and its works on behalf of Hindu Board Children Home, he continually delivered that it will help to stimulate students’ motivation for life skill development. Mr. Sanjayan Selvamanickam provides the importance of the project and its advantages in the modern world. Further he kindly called for help from society and volunteers to implement the project successfully. Mr. Gowthaman Kunchithapatham (Project Coordinator, Volunteer) delivered brief explanation on the objective of the intervention, aims and exoected impact and results, further he added these kind of intervention is most needed for the children, especially in homes.

Under the Noolaham Foundation objective of ‘communities of practice’ (foster user communities) this project plans to provide forty-five children-focused participatory and interactive training on personal, social and soft skills development for Hindu Board Children Home students, Thirunelveli, Jaffna. Under the soft skills, ‘message’, one of the elements of communication was considered for the first training. During the training period five different types of participatory and interactive tools were applied and the children were actively participated and helped each other in the training.

Noolaham Foundation proud to recognizes and appreciates the volunteers and the staff who supported in the event.The staff of Noolaham Foundation Mr. Sivarajah Lambotharan (Programme and Communication Officer), Mrs. Yalini Lambotharan, Mr. Noel Rukshan Premakumar (Project Assistant) were participated on behalf of Noolaham Foundation in this event. Mr. Gowthaman Kunchithapatham (District Coordinator, Volunteer), Mr. Keethan Sivasubramaniyam, Mr. Harishanth Thiraviyanathan (“Pallikoodam”, coordinator), Ms. Siva Suthanthini (Volunteer) and seven more volunteers (who awaits for admissions to Sri Lankan’s universities) were also participated.
