Meeting with IMHO representative

A discussion was held on 27th August 2014 at 04.00 p.m. at Noolaham Foundation Colombo office with Dr. Thavam Thampipillai, MD who is the Secretary of international board of directors at International Medical Health Organization (IMHO). Mr.Sanjayan Selvamanickam (Chapter head, Noolaham, Norway) and Mr. Shanmugapriyan Shanmugam (Chief Program Executive, Noolaham Foundation) participated on behalf of Noolaham Foundation.

The project related communication had been initiated and a concept note was submitted to IMHO by Noolaham Foundation in 2013. Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, university of Jaffna is the primary stake holder of the project.

Mr. Shanmugam Shanmugapriyan explained about the Noolaham Foundation and its services rendering to Tamil speaking communities. The discussion focused on the digital library, programs and road map of Noolaham Foundation, volunteer contributions and participation towards Noolaham Foundation, challenges encountered in ten year, and the objective of the project of “Documentation and Information Sharing of Community Medicine Resources”. And further briefed on the progress of the digitizing activities in the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, university of Jaffna since February 2014, technical aspects, and the expected results of this intervention. Strategic discussion was convened on how to disseminate this digitally archived document and the need of initiating next phase to fulfill the gap.

Dr. Thavam Thampipillai, MD realized that IMHO and Noolaham Foundation would work together for benefit of Tamil speaking communities on knowledge building aspects. He mentioned that further to this discussion, he would be able to explain on the potentiality of the project intervention proposed by Noolaham Foundation to IMHO community and would take part in knowledge storing and disseminating services of Noolaham Foundation.
