The Malaiyaham Archive Pilot Project was carried out by Noolaham Foundation in 2013/14 to digitize and preserve the publications related to Tamil speaking community of the Malaiyaham. Malaiyaham Archive is a special collection of Noolaham Foundation Digital Library. The objective of this special collection is documentation, preservation and dissemination of information sources related to the Malaiyaham Tamil community.

Through this project 140 rare documents were digitized and made available on Noolaham Foundation’s digital library at www.noolaham.org. These documents are available for free access and could be downloaded in the user-friendly interface of Noolaham Foundation’s Digital Library. To enable easy access to this special collection, web portal (நூலகம்: மலையக ஆவணகம்) was also were created. The digitized publications portray their culture, distinctive history, tradition, political context, religious, arts, stories, schooling system.

This project was a successful initiative and received special appreciation from Malaiyaham Tamil writers and publishers. When new documents arrive from Malaiyaham Tamil community, they will be collected by Noolaham Foundation’s Malaiyaham volunteers in the future. And they will be digitized as part of the Noolaham Foundation’s annual Collection Development Projects.
