The event commenced at about 5.00p.m. evening with a small introductory address by Mr.Sutharshan. It was followed by an address by Prof.Cheran on the topic of “Documentation in a Tamil environment”. He emphasized the importance of documentation in his speech. He added that only a non government organization was able to do documentation without any political inclinations and pointed out that the digital documentation was the best solution for it.
This was followed by a small address by Mr.Nahulasihamany who, by Valvai archive had been doing documentations personally. He stated that by his own effort he was able to publish more than twenty books which remained unpublished then. He too provided some of those books to the Noolaham programme at the meeting itself. It’s worthy to note here that he had published a brochure about the village of Kayts.
This was followed by an introduction on digital documentation by Prof.Selvakumar. He who stressed on digitization and its importance continued to point out that it wasn’t atleast always permanent and that in accordance with the development in technology, the technology used in such documentations should also change. Next, the organizer of the Canadian branch of the Noolaham foundation Mr.Kiruthihan provided an introduction about the Noolaham programme. He who briefed about the future aspects and plans of the Noolaham programme pointing out the “Road Map” of the Noolaham foundation, provided clear descriptions about the Noolaham foundation.
Mr.Kiruthihan’s address was followed by a tea-break. After the interval, Mr.Natkeeran who had been a long contributor for the Noolaham foundation and the Tamil Wikipedia as well provided an introduction about the Tamil Wikipedia. His speech on colletive contributions by multiple authors and the other services currently available in Wikipedia was very clear and deep. Thereafter, Mr.Sutharshan presented a brief summary about the Noolaham programme and the event. It was followed by a discussion too. The event was over by about 8.30 p.m.
